School for us started about a month ago and it definitely is different than school before quarantine. Firstly, the work load seems to be about the same if not a little less. Secondly, teachers are administering tests and quizzes still. However, even though we are not going to school physically, it is important to keep up on all work and be prepared for tests.
1.) It is important to stay on top of work
Even though teachers are giving less work and making classes less stressful for students, it is important to not fall behind. Manage time efficiently and try not to be side tracked while finishing homework.
2.) Pay attention during class
With all of our technology around us such as our phones and laptops, it is easy to open a new tab to watch Youtube videos or open up TikTok on your phone. However, we should focus on concentrating and absorbing all the information during class. This will allow us to ask questions and understand the topics better, which may lead to a lower amount of time needed for studying. Class time is a great time to ask questions because the teacher is lecturing on a topic and same day questions can help clarify the teacher's presentation.
3.) Go outside
While school is in session we are staring at our screens all day which can hurt our eyes and majority of the time our posture is not the best. The ensure a healthy lifestyle while still attending classes, we should all go outside for at least 15 minutes to take in some fresh air and do some stretching. Going outside allows us to feel the sunlight on our skin as well as can help boost your mood. According to studies by Healthline, exposure to sunlight can cause the brain to release the hormone serotonin which makes a person feel calm and focused.
4.) Relax and take time for yourself
School can be stressful and working in front of a computer all day can be draining. Take time for yourself and work on a hobby or just relax. It is important to not overwork yourself otherwise you may burn out. Remember that even though school is important, your health comes first. Try to talk to other people if possible and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Even though we are going through tough times right now and life may seem stressful, don't worry! Keeping calm and relaxed during school can help with our mental health as well as keep us healthy. Going outside and doing activities that make you happy are just as important as schoolwork!
