We would like to thank those who came out to our first event in November! With 2019 approaching, we would like to recap the past year and present our goals for next year.
In November, we held our first event at the Union City Public Library. We gave a fundamental background to mental health through an informational lecture, held activities for the audience to participate in, and introduced our organization. We brought awareness to the topic of mental health and left readers more informed on this topic.
In January, we will provide a stress workshop at Fremont Main Library. As students, there are many sources of stress. Trying to succeed academically and still maintain a social life and do well in extracurricular activities are all factors that add a tremendous amount of stress. While it is difficult to change the amount of stress we receive, it is possible to change how we view and handle stress. Our guest speaker, Ms. Bennett, is a counselor at Irvington High School. At her job, she sees many students struggling to handle stress. Our goal with this workshop is to use her insight to prevent and deal with stress.
In the coming year, we hope to host more events and look out for ways to connect with our community. We look forward to seeing you at future events!
