Tips how to stay calm and happy during Covid-19 quarantine!
Ever since the World Health Organization (WHO) announced Covid-19 as a pandemic many countries have shut down their borders and limited travel. In addition to shutting down travel, states in the United States of America have gone on a "shelter in place". For people affected, this has caused a great disturbance with adults being unable to go to work and students quarantined in their homes for their sake. In these times it may seem to be difficult as we are unable to go outside and socialize. If you are feeling stuck at home with nothing to do, you are not alone.
We should keep positive thoughts and be safe during this critical time.
In the special occasion where people are unable to leave their homes, they may feel suffocated and lonely. If possible you should try to go outside and spent time in the sun, research shows that just 30 minutes spent walking can help prevent heart problem and strengthens the bones.
Some tips to keep ourselves entertained during quarantine are:
1.) Starting a new routine
-Since we no longer follow a daily routine such as going to work or school, it is important to develop a new daily schedule. Such as waking up at the same time everyday and going to sleep at the same time everyday, this will allow our bodies to adapt to a new routine.
2.) Workout
-While we cannot go outside in large groups, if possible, try to go out for a walk where there are limited people. Since Covid-19 can stay in the air for about 3 hours, according to researchers, try walking at a park or trail. Even a short walk can allow you to receive fresh air and help strengthen your bones. Going outside will also allow you to feel less suffocated when compared to staying indoors all day.
3.) Talk to friends and family
-If possible call your friends and family members in order to have some sort of social contact. The CDC recommends staying at least 6 feet away from non-family members, this allows you to talk to family members that live under the same roof as you. If this is not possible, then try calling your friends and simply talk about your day. It is important to talk to at least one person a day so that you do not feel alone while being quarantined.
4.) Clean your home
-While it may seem trivial a clean home allows for a clean mind. A cleaner environment allows for the mind to feel less cluttered and gives the home a less claustrophobic feeling.
